Who is an Au pair?
Au pair is a single girl who helps a host family with childcare and housework for a specified period of time. The girl lives with the host family not as an employee but like one of the daughters of the host. The host family in return provides her with free food, free accommodation and pays an allowance to her. The amount of pocket allowance depends on the country where the girl is doing Au pair work.
Each country which has an official Au pair program has age limit and a salary guideline for Au pairs. Mostly an Au pair comes from a foreign country with an aim of learning the language and the culture of the people of her target country. In some countries, boys are also accepted as Au pairs.
Au Pair Program is an Inter-Cultural Exchange Program that gives the youth a great opportunity to spend a year living with a host family in another country while they learn the language and experience the culture of people in that country.
